Amarelle Parathis, the Duchess Unseen, was the foremost thief on more worlds than she could easily keep track of. Evading an army of victims, solicitors, constables, and assassins, she and her crew sought comfortable retirement under the arcane protections of the magical city of Theradane. A momentary indiscretion has now left Amarelle and her friends vulnerable. If they want to stay protected against the overwhelming power of everyone they’ve ever offended, they’ll have to carry out heists on behalf of the mighty Ivovandas, a blackmailing wizard with a list of seemingly impossible tasks. For starters, Amarelle and her crew must steal a street, hundreds of yards long, from beneath the very feet of the thousands of people who walk upon it every day in the most crowded market districts of Theradane.
